Simpson Street Back Alley II - Every year more and more old brick buildings are torn down to make room for gravel parking lots and I can't help but shake my head. Heritage buildings should be preserved for future generations. That’s just my humble opinion. When I look at old photos of the Simpson Street area, I can't believe how much more urban it used to be. Architecturally speaking, and quoting a visitor from the Netherlands I once met who was passing through town, modern day Thunder Bay resembles an oversized truck stop. A few gems remain but for how long? Unfortunately not very many people feel the same and perhaps a 100 years down the road photographers will enjoy capturing the beauty of the intercity 1-story concrete-slab megastores.
